Hello, I’m Briana! I’m a sociologist with particular interest in disability and sexuality. My thesis explored physical disability, sexuality and expectations for romantic relationships. I share my research findings to demonstrate historical social injustice about physical disability and sexual agency. (Oh, and I also have cerebral palsy.)
The research question in my study asks how people with physical disabilities perceive their socialization to affect their experiences as sexual beings. The purpose of this research is to understand how socialization impacts the beliefs and expectations that people with physical disabilities have regarding romantic relationships and sexual identity.
I graduated summa cum laude from California State University, Chico, with a degree in Sociology.
Since graduation, I’ve remained passionate about social justice and human rights.
As the former co-founder and director of the only fully inclusive nonprofit in Butte County serving children with and without disabilities and their families, I’m a dedicated social steward.
As an inclusion consultant and a former columnist, I’m dedicated to building a bridge for equality through writing and academic research.
By sharing reflections reported by my research participants, I also aspire to give voice to the challenges, myths, and aspirations of those of us with physical disabilities who encounter obstacles to sexual expression and connection.
Through my work, I provide support, education, advocacy, and collaboration to promote equality, empowerment, and meaningful connection for us all.

Alongside serving as an advisory member of the Magical Bridge Foundation, an organization creating inclusive playgrounds for people of ALL abilities.
Deborah Vick is dedicated to serving her family, community and those battling chronic illnesses. Mrs Vick is married to her college sweetheart and is a mother to two loving boys, a service dog and a newly adopted cat. She has earned her BA in Political Science, M.Ed. in Higher Education with a focus on Diversity Inclusion and continues to pursue the completion of her law degree. She has completed various continuing education programs including Mindfulness and Meditation facilitator programs and STEAM programs for elementary schools.
She believes that together we can build BRIDGES for a BETTER TOMORROW through embracing and embodying the true meaning of the terms “connection, collaboration, and community”.
Elizabeth Organt graduated from the University of Baltimore with a B.A. in history and an M.S. in education from Niagara University.
She has 28 years of experience teaching and advising students with diagnosed learning disabilities. She also served as Department Chair, Mentor, and Senior Project Advisor.
She has presented at numerous conferences, mainly with The Learning Disabilities Association of America. Currently, she is serving on the Adult Transition to College, Trade School, or Career Committee for Learning Disabilities of Pennsylvania.
She currently lives in the suburban Philadelphia area with her husband and enjoys spending time traveling.
Esther is a passionate individual with a diverse background and a relentless drive to make a positive impact. She holds a Master’s degree in Social Work, where her commitment to empowering communities first took root, and a Bachelor’s degree in Business, which fuels her entrepreneurial spirit.
In her professional role, Esther plays a pivotal part in ensuring the success and enablement of Net at Work’s MSP partners. With over a decade of channel experience, primarily within the IT Service Provider sector, she brings a wealth of expertise to her position. Mr. Norman is a dedicated public servant gifted with the ability to bring people of seemingly unrelated interests together. He personally and professionally knows the challenges in forging a unique career in spite of bias and barriers. He currently serves as the Chair of the Maryland Commission on Civil Rights. He has a unique brand of serving the public with a special sidekick, guide dog Bowie.
His public policy dialogue work shows his orientation towards non-partisan collaboration, convening experts together. In 2020, he received the Administrator’s Award at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for his work on healthcare accessibility and quality policy related to people with disabilities. In November 2019, he served as a Fellow at the invite-only Public Policy Conflict Resolution Fellowship. A program for high-level leaders convened under the auspices of the Md. judiciary. He serves on the Maryland Lynching Truth and Reconciliation Commission. In 2015, he served as a Visiting Fellow at the non-partisan Robert J. Dole Institute for Politics. He established a multi-year non-partisan symposium on animal law and policy brokering regional or even national experts together. He is known for his semi-regular salons in which he brokers thought leaders, including, the disabled and the able, having mentored a range of law students with disabilities.
Mr. Norman believes that action in the public square must be matched with scholarship and reflection. He is the past founder and Co-Executive Editor of The Mid-Atlantic Journal on Law and Public Policy: Animal and Disability Reporter, a non-partisan, law and public policy journal on animal and disability issues. He has a column in the Maryland Daily Record focusing on policy and on his adventures to influence policy as a lawyer with a guide dog.
Mr. Norman started his public service career as a Presidential Management Fellow in 2000 with the federal government after graduating from Wright State University and Cleveland State University. He serves as pro bono legal counsel to the Board of Directors of the Presidential Management Alumni Association. In 2011, he obtained his Master in Letters of Law at the Program on Law and Government at the Washington College of Law at American University, focusing on healthcare regulation as well as healthcare policy and non-discrimination. He has served as a policy briefer on disability and non-discrimination at a global health conference on gender and human rights. In 2008, he traveled to the European Union as an American Marshall Memorial Fellow.
Mr. Norman enjoys the theatre, writing, and sharing time reading his books whilst drinking coffee. His dog or dogs are usually nearby chewing on a bone or playing with toys.
Dr. Schulz started her career in higher education in the early 1990s at what was then known as Essex Community College, in the Disability Support Services office. During her time in higher education, Dr. Schulz has held different positions but returned to supporting students with disabilities in 2008 at The University of Baltimore. She considers what she does as “coming home.” She continues to be a leader in her field as the current Past President of the state chapter of her national organization as well as a main point of contact for her peers in regard to the provision of accommodations.
Dr. Schulz fully believes that part of the responsibility of her position and the office’s mission, besides the provision of reasonable and appropriate accommodations, is to help students registered with the office transition to the workforce with a focus on how their classroom accommodations also make this transition.
During the course of her tenure in her current position, Dr. Schulz has given numerous presentations about reasonable and appropriate accommodations, assistive technology, and self-advocacy; all relatable to the transition to the workforce. She sponsors a federal program each fall, the Workforce Recruitment Program, that connects students with disabilities with potential federal hiring managers in hopes of finding an internship or part-time and/or full-time employment with the federal government. Recently she was interviewed by the monthly publication, Disability Compliance in Higher Education, about this program.
In her spare time, Dr. Schulz loves spending time with her family and dogs and is an avid reader.
Deeply passionate about diversity and inclusion, Khushboo is a Neurodiversity Specialist and a Transformational Leader, on a mission to advocate for and help provide access to high quality services for neurodivergent children and adults. Khushboo aims to make a meaningful impact in the world through education, empowerment, authentic engagement and unbridled compassion.
